As the Senior Finance Officer you will be responsible for undertaking and managing the financial systems, financial reporting and intranet development activities for the department ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
The Senior Finance Officer reports to the Manager - Budget, Financial Services, Corporate Services
Key responsibilities
As Senior Finance Officer, Systems and Reporting, you will specifically:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Undertake and oversee financial management activities including SAP system activities, SAP cost centre/internal order creation and hierarchy maintenance, SAP delegations and vendor/customer table maintenance, financial performance reporting and budget variance analysis.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures relating to financial reporting and SAP systems maintenance.
- Develop, implement and maintain the Financial Management intranet page and resources to facilitate and support financial management within the department.
- Identify, analyse, develop, implement and evaluate complex financial issues, strategies, policies and procedures and develop options establishing a course of action.
- Provide high quality and well researched advice, interpretation and feedback to senior managers, colleagues, employees, clients and stakeholders on a broad range of financial management activities with a strong focus on customer service.
- Consult, liaise and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Effectively utilise advanced computer skills and experience in financial systems and software applications, particularity SAP ECC and Microsoft Excel to undertake financial management and reporting activities.
- Ensure financial controls systems (including Delegations and Administrative Authorities) are in place, operating effectively and are regularly monitored and tested.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, directives and departmental policies, the collection of information and data and the preparation and presentation of reports.
- Undertake other financial activities to support the successful operations of the Financial Services team.
