Dara School is inviting applications for an experienced and forward-thinking Business Manager to join our Leadership Team.

Reporting directly to the Principal, this position holds a pivotal role in overseeing the School’s financial, administrative, and operational functions. The Business Manager provides leadership across finance, property, ICT, compliance, HR, and administration, with a strong emphasis on strategic financial planning, risk management, and long-term sustainability. Acting as a key adviser to both the Principal and the Board, the Business Manager contributes to shaping the School’s future direction and ensuring its continued success as a centre for gifted education.

The successful candidate will guide and support staff in business services, bringing expertise in financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and the effective management of resources and capital projects.

Following the initial 12-month contract, opportunity to convert to permanency is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

Degree in Business, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline

Membership of a recognised professional accounting body (CA/CPA or equivalent) desirable

Demonstrated leadership experience in finance, operations, and administration

Strong background in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and compliance for organisations with $3M+ turnover

Understanding of HR, WHS, and risk management practices

Familiarity with FACTS Management System

Proven ability to lead teams effectively and foster positive stakeholder relationships

Current Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain before commencement)

Desirable

Experience within education or not-for-profit organisations

Knowledge of school finance and administration platforms

Additional qualifications or experience in leadership, governance, or organisational management

Working Conditions

12 month initial contract with potential for permanency, 0.6 FTE position.
