Join Our Team: Training and Development Roles Supporting First Nations Workforce Capability in our client, a Federal Agency dedicated to those living with disability.
Are you passionate about creating culturally safe and inclusive learning environments? Do you want to contribute to positive outcomes for First Nations people with disability? We are seeking motivated and culturally aware professionals to join our team in delivering high-impact training and development initiatives. All are 12-month assignments with the possibility of extension. You must also be an Australian Citizen. Roles are based in the CBD or Midland office.
We currently have multiple opportunities available across the equivalent of APS5 and APS6 levels, including:
- Training Coordinator (APS5) - $55.24 p/h + Super
- Senior Training Design Officer (APS6) - $60.26 p/h
- Training Facilitation Officer (APS6) - $60.26 p/h
These roles sit within a dynamic and collaborative team focused on building workforce capability through culturally responsive training programs. You will work closely with First Nations stakeholders, internal teams, and external providers to design, coordinate, deliver, and continuously improve training that reflects cultural knowledge, lived experience, and adult learning principles.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on your level and focus area, your role may include:
- Design & Development (APS6 Design Officer):
- Co-designing training packages with First Nations stakeholders.
- Developing learning materials including facilitator guides, participant resources, and eLearning content.
- Applying adult learning and instructional design principles to create inclusive and engaging content.
- Facilitation & Delivery (APS6 Facilitation Officer):
- Delivering training sessions in face-to-face, virtual, and blended formats.
- Promoting psychological safety and trauma-aware practices in learning environments.
- Coaching other facilitators and supporting continuous improvement through feedback.
- Coordination & Support (APS5 Coordinator):
- Organising logistics for training delivery including scheduling, communications, and resource preparation.
- Supporting the facilitation of training and maintaining records and reporting.
- Assisting with vendor coordination and ensuring cultural appropriateness of services.
All roles contribute to:
- Embedding cultural safety and inclusive practices into workforce capability initiatives.
- Collaborating with HR, L&D, and operational teams to align training with strategic priorities.
- Representing the team in relevant forums and supporting workforce development goals.
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of cultural safety and First Nations perspectives.
- Demonstrated experience in training coordination, facilitation, or instructional design.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.
- Commitment to inclusive practices, trauma-informed approaches, and continuous improvement.
Desirable Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in education, training, human resources, or a related field.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) - highly desirable for APS6 roles.
- Experience working in or with First Nations communities is highly regarded.
