The Role
The City of Port Lincoln is seeking a fulltime Community Safety Officer to provide efficient and effective delivery of high-quality regulatory services in animal management, parking and general inspection.

What you will be doing:
Provide the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality regulatory services in animal management, parking, and general inspection.
General Inspectorate responsibilities include the provision of services including but not limited to the following:
Litter and Nuisance
By Law permit inspections and approvals
Fire and Emergency Services
Marina Wharf surveillance
Enforcement of all relevant legislation including determining appropriate action, taking statements, preparing correspondence and reports, and initiating legal proceedings where necessary
Interpret and apply Acts, Bylaws, regulations, and policies relevant to the role
Prepare and process expiation notices including uploading of expiations, processing reminder and final notice, Fines Enforcement Unit notifications and general maintenance of expiations in accordance with Expiation of Offences Act.
Provide operational and maintenance activities support within the Marina.
Use appropriate judgement to make decisions on expiation appeals in accordance with Reviewing Expiation Notices Guidelines within applicable delegations
Contribute towards the promotion of the image of the Council and maximise good public relations
Keep abreast of legislation updates, best practice, current work trends, identify opportunities and take action for improving the provision of regulatory services
Deliver educational programs to increase awareness and promote community safety
Assist with legislation under the Dog and Cat Management Act including seize, impound, and record any stray, lost or dangerous dog
Implement and monitor programmed parking services aligned to the Road Traffic Act 1961 and Australian Road Rules
Provide high quality customer service to City of Lincoln’s external and internal customers in relation to Regulatory Services, in accordance with relevant legislation, Council’s strategies, policies procedures and determined service levels
Build positive relationships with internal and external customers and partners, general public, other Councils, and other levels of Government
Resolve requests and complaints received through Council’s Customer Service Request System and respond to requests in a timely manner
Investigate issues and make recommendations regarding action required to resolve them
Respond to written requests for information ensuring responses are accurate and timely
Reporting of incidents, near miss, injuries, property damage and identified hazards
Take reasonable care to protect their own safety and the health and safety of others
Follow reasonable instruction on health and safety and injury management
Actively participate in training and WHS programs as required
Be available for the after-hours roster during weekdays and weekends

The successful candidate will possess a well-developed oral and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve conflict, and work effectively in a team environment under minimum supervision. The candidate will also possess sound analytical and problem resolution skills with the ability to think logically and creatively. It is also imperative that the successful candidate uses sound judgement and diplomacy when handling conflict.
