We’re looking for a Senior Investigator who’s ready to lead complex investigations, contribute to critical decision-making, and play a key role in enforcing industry standards and legislation.
About the Role
As a Senior Investigator, you’ll lead and support investigations into allegations of misconduct, animal cruelty, and non-compliance under the Greyhound Racing Act 2017 and related legislation. You’ll also prepare high-quality briefs of evidence, provide expert advice, and appear in court or disciplinary hearings as required.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct and oversee major, high-impact investigations across the greyhound racing industry.
Monitor investigation quality and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Prepare detailed reports and briefs of evidence to support prosecution and enforcement outcomes.
Provide insights and intelligence to support strategic decision-making.
Represent the Commission in disciplinary and court proceedings.
Identify and assess complaints, working closely with the Manager of Racing Integrity.
Support the ongoing development of investigative tools, techniques, and team capability.
Key Challenges
Maintaining high ethical standards in a complex and dynamic regulatory environment.
Managing sensitive investigations with discretion, objectivity, and professionalism.
Balancing competing priorities while ensuring timely and accurate intelligence reporting.
Staying ahead of emerging trends, legislation, and investigative best practices.
What You’ll Bring
Extensive experience in investigations, compliance, or regulatory enforcement.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation, ideally the Greyhound Racing Act 2017.
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – with the ability to produce high-quality evidence and reports.
Confidence to represent the Commission in court or formal proceedings.
Integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
