The College is seeking to appoint a Permanent Full time Grounds and Maintenance Person to maintain and care for our outdoor spaces, including sporting fields, gardens and lawns across our three campuses. This position will also support the Maintenance Team with repair and maintenance tasks as needed. This position works 38 hours per week and is available for an immediate start.

Duties of the position include:

Install landscaping features such as trees, shrubs and flowerbeds.

Plant, water and maintain plants and gardens.

Handle, use and store chemicals for fertilising and controlling weeds and pests.

Ensure buildings and grounds are free of debris and rubbish. Undertake sweeping or blowing of outdoor areas and empty rubbish bins as required.

Maintain sporting grounds and undertake line marking in a neat and accurate manner.

Use hand tools, mechanised tools and motorised equipment in safe and proficient manner, as appropriate to the required task.

Perform equipment safety and maintenance checks and ensure equipment is maintained in good working condition.

Complete basic maintenance and repair tasks on paved areas, sidewalks and driveways as required.

Undertake duties, when required, to assist the Operations Team, including cleaning, maintenance or bus driving.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience and knowledge in groundskeeping and/or horticulture

Certificate level qualifications in horticulture, groundskeeping and/or applying pesticide are highly desirable

Current C Class Driver’s Licence is essential, with an LR or MR Driver’s Licence being highly desirable.

Possession of a Driver Authorisation (Genr/Sche) in order to drive school buses or the ability to obtain one is desirable.

Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement.

Demonstrated ability to undertake tasks of a physical nature in an outdoor environment.

Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service to staff and students.

An understanding of and commitment to workplace, health and safety in a school environment.
