The Opportunity
As the Civic Events Officer, you’ll play a key role in planning and delivering East Gippsland Shire Council’s civic events, including our citizenship ceremonies and official openings. This is an opportunity to create memorable experiences that strengthen connections within our community. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you’ll ensure events are well planned, run smoothly and reflect the values of Council and the community. Your attention to detail, strong communication, and passion for customer service will make every event a success.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a calendar of civic events, ceremonies and receptions
- Coordinate logistics, resources, and compliance for all events
- Manage communications, invitations, and promotional materials
- Provide excellent customer service and stakeholder support
Based in Bairnsdale, this is a part-time, ongoing position, working 22.8 hours per week (0.6 FTE). As this role works with community events there are times when you will need to work evenings and weekends.
What we’re looking for
- Strong administration, organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with community groups and stakeholders
- Demonstrated event management and customer service experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check, and have an employee working with children check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
