About the role

We are seeking a full-time butcher or 3rd year butchery apprentice to join our team at The Squealing Pig Butchers' in Burpengary, QLD. This hands-on role involves working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment to provide high-quality meat and exceptional service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital part in delivering our delicious, locally-sourced products to the local community.

One weekend day (either Saturday or Sunday) is required as part of your regular working schedule.

What you'll be doing

Expertly cutting, trimming and preparing a wide variety of meats to customer specifications

Demonstrate comprehensive butchery skills including basic cutting, boning and filleting, sausage making, customer orders, meat preparation, and knife maintenance

Providing outstanding customer service and offering knowledgeable product recommendations

Assisting with inventory management and stock control

Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment

Potentially supervising and training junior team members, depending on experience

What we're looking for

At least 2 years' experience as a qualified butcher or 3rd year butchery apprenticeship

Exceptional knife skills and a keen eye for detail

Strong customer service orientation and the ability to provide product recommendations

Good numeracy skills for inventory management

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

A passion for high-quality, locally-sourced produce
