The Team:
This role is based in Launceston. The team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of Medical Officers, Nurses, Social Workers and consultation processes with Lived experience advocates. We work closely with the states Alcohol and/or Other Drugs (AOD) offices in Ulverston and Hobart, delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community. We provide advice and support to other agencies, consumers, families and friends. We are a voluntary organisation that bases care on harm minimisation principles.
The Role:
As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality AOD services in accordance with Agency policy, legal requirements, and relevant professional competencies to clients, carers, support people, families and other professionals within the Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) Consultation and Liaison Service, the Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) will:
- Provide professional and clinical leadership and direction in the strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive multidisciplinary state-wide alcohol and other drug consultation liaison service.
- Provide a range of specialist assessments and interventions service for clients of the ADS Consultation and Liaison Service in accordance with discipline specific scope of practise and across a range of settings.
- Act as a consultant to the broader Tasmanian Health service and linked services regarding the support and management of clients with alcohol and other drug issues and promote community awareness in relation to alcohol and other drugs.
You will need:
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary evidence-based practice used in the treatment and prevention of alcohol and/or other drug dependence, including alcohol and/or other drug assessment, the harm minimisation framework, and intervention and prevention actives in the provision of a consultation and liaison service.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively undertake a coordination/leadership role within a multidisciplinary community alcohol and other drug service setting, including providing supervision and support to other staff as required.
- Proven ability to actively and effectively contribute to quality and safety processes at the individual service level.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
- Current Working with Children Registration
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Holds or is working towards relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Postgraduate clinical experience in the context of an alcohol and other drug service
- Current Driver’s Licence
