Join our dedicated team in the Urban Futures - Strategic Planning unit of Sutherland Shire Council, where your contributions will play a crucial role in developing strategic planning frameworks that ensure a vibrant, sustainable future for our community. As a Strategic Planner, you will work closely with the Planning and Strategy Manager and Senior Manager of Urban Futures, dive into project-based initiatives, and actively participate in preparing vital land use strategies and policies. Your insights and innovative ideas will help us navigate the challenges of urban planning and environmental management.
Candidate Profile
As a Strategic Planner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Sutherland Shire through the development of land use planning strategies and policies. You will collaborate with stakeholders, undertake research, and prepare policy papers to support informed decision-making.
We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about urban planning and eager to contribute to the community. If you possess the following qualities, we want to hear from you:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental planning or a related discipline, or nearing completion of relevant postgraduate qualifications.
- A solid understanding of planning issues and practises, coupled with strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to convey complex ideas simply and clearly.
- Proficiency in IT, with a desire to leverage advanced tools like GIS and computer modelling.

- Package: From $88,129 - $111,514 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. Salary will be determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
- Hours of work: Permanent Full Time 35 hours per week, with option of 19 day month flex time arrangement available.
