The Role
To provide a flexible, targeted Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service which maximizes the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from birth to school entry and their families, in accordance with the 2019 Victorian State MCH program Service Guidelines, Enhanced MCH Program guidelines, funding and service agreements and Wathaurong policies and procedures. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families are provided services that support the advancement of self- determination and self-management in the delivery of MCH programs. The MCH service will provide culturally safe appropriate practices that enable optimal health, wellbeing and safety outcomes for children, mothers, families, and staff belonging to Wathaurong Aboriginal community.
About you
Current registration with AHPRA- Division 1 Nursing and Midwifery.
To hold an accredited postgraduate or recognised qualification in Family and Child health nursing.
Demonstrated knowledge of child health, development, and behaviour.
High level of written and oral communication skills.
Proficient computer skills and experience in Child Development Information System and Best Practice software (desirable).
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively. • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive stakeholder relationships.
Knowledge of safe and appropriate culturally centred practices for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander focused services, including employment of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Demonstrated understanding of social, physical, economical, and cultural strengths and challenges affecting Aboriginal communities and their ability to access adequate and quality services.
Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture.
Desirable
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
