About the role
Explore and lead initiatives that support the achievement of the goals of the regional plan for mental health, alcohol and other drugs and suicide prevention 2025-2030.
Key responsibilities
- collaborate with government, health services, community organisations and internal teams to lead regional mental health and wellbeing strategies aligned with local needs and system priorities
- facilitate stakeholder engagement using best-practice and human-centred design approaches to embed the joint regional approach (2025–2030)
- develop, implement and oversee quality improvement initiatives and cross-sector projects that are evidence-based, scalable and responsive to community needs
- lead, design and manage data collection and analysis processes to support evaluation and needs assessment to strengthen regional commissioning and quality improvement practices
- champion authentic lived and living experience participation in shaping and evaluating regional initiatives
- support achievement of deliverables for key initiatives including Brisbane North PHN’s Reconciliation Action Plan and the South-East Qld First Nations Health Equity Strategy
- provide guidance and coordination to the Regional Planning team to ensure effective delivery of priorities.
About you
Within the context of the key outcome areas described above, the ideal applicant will demonstrate the following:
Qualifications and experience
- tertiary qualifications in a health or community related field with significant experience in mental health including knowledge of local, state and national mental health policies.
- proven expertise in mental health service delivery and quality improvement, including identifying gaps, prioritising needs and leading initiatives across collaboratives and working groups.
- strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience working alongside the lived and living experience community, carers, priority populations (e.g. LGBTIQ+, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, veterans, culturally and linguistically diverse) and community leaders.
- demonstrated ability to build partnerships and coordinate multi-stakeholder projects, including government and non-government organisations.
- project management capability in population health or wellbeing programs, coordinating resources and reporting to achieve outcomes.
- excellent communication, data analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within on-site or remote teams.
Other
A current driver’s licence is desirable, and use of a personal vehicle may be required, including travel between workplaces. Work-related mileage will be reimbursed at relevant rates.
You may be required to work flexible hours. The role may include evening/weekend commitments for which time off in lieu is provided.

- Salary $105,737.69 base + Super + Salary Packaging
- This is a 11-month max term contract
