Automation & Robotics Engineer
Industrial Automation Australia (part of the AMM Engineering Group) | Eagle Farm, Brisbane | Full-time
Iron Man had Jarvis. You’ll be building the real thing.
This isn’t your standard “maintenance tech” role. We’re after a different breed: someone who gets a rush from writing code, watching a simulation come alive, and then standing on the factory floor seeing it run shift after shift.
Most engineers can follow a manual. Very few can create something new. But you? You’re obsessed with making machines move — through code, wiring, and problem-solving. That’s exactly who thrives at Industrial Automation Australia.
We design and deliver the systems that keep Aussie industry competitive — robots that weld, cut, pack, and handle. From simulation in the office to sparks on the workshop floor, this is hands-on robotics.
What you’ll be doing
Program KUKA, ABB, Fanuc, and UR robots to weld, cut, pack, and handle
Simulate and optimise before stepping on site (RobotStudio, KUKA.Sim, RoboGuide, RobotDK)
Integrate conveyors, sensors, PLCs, HMIs, and safety systems
Wire and commission panels, drives, and networks
Run FATs/SATs, documenting and resolving issues
Train operators and techs to run systems safely
Prepare project documentation and manage version control
Support clients with aftercare and continuous improvements
What we’re looking for
3+ years’ experience programming industrial robots
Fluent in at least one robot language (KUKA KRL, ABB RAPID, Fanuc TP, UR Polyscope)
Real-world commissioning experience in factory environments
Strong understanding of PLCs, HMIs, and wiring
Detail-obsessed — because one missed line of code = one broken cycle
Excited by building automation that changes how factories run
What’s in it for you
Real projects with real ownership
Diverse automation: welding, packaging, handling, custom cells
Career paths into senior engineer, technical lead, or specialisations like vision and AI robotics
A collaborative crew of engineers, electricians, and fabricators
Competitive pay + travel allowances
Bragging rights: “Yeah, I program robots that run factories.”
How to apply
Send us your CV — but don’t stop there. Show us what you’ve actually built:
- A robot cell you programmed
- A panel you wired
- A simulation you created
- A system you commissioned on-site
A screenshot, photo, or short video is enough. We’re engineers — we’ll know what we’re looking at. Think of it as your chance to say: “This is mine. I built this. I made this machine run.”
