Who you are
You are a detail-oriented, strategic thinker with a passion for copyright law and intellectual property. You excel in building strong relationships and providing expert advice to a diverse community. With extensive experience in copyright management and a deep understanding of legislation, you’re driven to ensure compliance and support the education and research needs of a dynamic university environment.
What you'll do
As the University Copyright Manager, you will lead copyright education and compliance across UniSQ, ensuring high levels of awareness and alignment with national and international standards. You will:
- Manage the development and delivery of copyright services, ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of copyright awareness across the university.
- Represent UniSQ in external collaborations with stakeholders including Universities Australia, the Copyright Agency, and the Australian Digital Alliance.
- Monitor changes in copyright legislation, advising on relevant updates and their impact on the university.
- Lead the Library Copyright Community of Practice, ensuring consistent, high-quality advice from library staff.
- Investigate copyright breaches and provide recommendations for action.
- Provide strategic insights, using data to inform decision-making and ensure ongoing service improvements.
What will help you succeed
To excel in this role, you’ll bring:
- A relevant graduate qualification and extensive experience in leading copyright services within an educational or information-based organisation.
- In depth knowledge of copyright law, including changes to legislation, open licensing, and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) rights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with university stakeholders and external bodies.
- Expertise in policy development, with the ability to evaluate and improve services based on evidence and emerging trends.
- Ability to anticipate and manage risks, ensuring the university’s copyright operations are both compliant and forward-thinking.

Salary: Total remuneration range of $133,806 to $153,649 pa (includes salary range of $112,845 to $129,580 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17%, and annual leave loading)
