Your Opportunity
The Integrated Carer Support Service (ICSS) working with the Carer Gateway, links carers with supports and services to help them manage daily challenges, address stress, maintain wellbeing, and plan for the future. With a focus on early intervention, prevention, and skill-building, the service helps carers stay well and supported.
As the Community Coordinator, you'll play a key role in supporting clients, local organisations, and agencies to build stronger, more connected communities. This is an on-site position based in Goulburn, with outreach across the region. You'll connect with the local area both in person and online, providing education, advocacy, and support while expanding entry points to our services. Your work will involve community engagement, coordination of events and activities, and fostering collaborative relationships that strengthen outcomes for carers and their families.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Build strong connections with the local community, delivering education, advocacy, and awareness activities.
- Facilitate support groups, workshops, and community events to enhance carer wellbeing and knowledge.
- Provide advice, information, and referrals to clients, supporting them to build decision-making and self-advocacy skills.
- Represent Mission Australia at community meetings, expos, and networking events to promote the program and highlight carer needs.
- Coordinate and risk assess outreach activities and events across the region, ensuring safe and effective delivery.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, organisations, and service providers to strengthen community networks.
- Collect and maintain accurate client, community, and program data in line with Mission Australia's policies and funding requirements.
Requirements for Success
- Relevant qualifications in community services or similar, or equivalent industry experience (2+ years preferred).
- Strong community connections and proven ability to engage with diverse groups, including young people, carers, and families.
- Experience in organising and coordinating community events, activities, and outreach programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable to different audiences and contexts.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems, with strong attention to detail in reporting and record-keeping.
- Willingness to travel across the region (including possible overnight stays) and deliver services across a wide geographical area.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Must have full driver licence with no restrictions.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
