Parkerville Steiner College invites applications for a High School Education Assistant - Part Time (0.8 - 1FTE over 5 days)

Support teenagers to feel seen, capable, and confident.
We’re seeking a steady, student-centered Education Assistant to support our high school students. You’ll work alongside the Class Teacher and our Student Engagement Teacher to create a calm, purposeful classroom where adolescents can thrive.
What you’ll do:
Provide in-class learning support.
Build respectful, trusting relationships with teenagers.
Assist with routines, transitions, and classroom readiness.
Attend professional development days, support recess and lunch supervision, attend excursions and or camps, support the life of the school including class and school event setup/pack-down.
Notice what students need and act - sometimes by following direction, sometimes by using your initiative.
Keep records, maintain confidentiality, and communicate clearly with staff and families as required.
Engage with adolescent development. Mentoring and professional learning will be provided.
You bring:
A genuine delight in working with teenagers and an understanding of their stage of development.
Pastoral care skills, grounded in respect, consistency, and good judgement.
Reliability, discretion, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
A collaborative approach: comfortable both taking direction and self-directing when needed.
Sound literacy and numeracy skills for classroom support and IT skills for admin tasks.
Desired Qualifications:
Certificate III/IV in Education Support, Youth Work, or similar or a willingness to actively progress towards a relevant qualification.
Current First Aid Certificate or a willingness to obtain one.
Essential requirements:
A willingness to engage with the ethos of Steiner education.
Current Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one.
Unrestricted right to work in Australia.

Remuneration: $28-$35 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
This position is salaried throughout the year, but hours of work are primarily during term time, with some additional hours required on pupil-free days or special events.
