Our client is a highly respected engineering company with extensive experience in providing word class quality products to the mining and construction industry. They pride themselves on quality services with a strong emphasis on safety including custom design and fabrication, equipment repair and maintenance, as well as equipment hire.

Due to growth, we're seeking a qualified Hydraulic Fitter to join their team. The Hydraulic Fitter plays a critical role in the design, assembly, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic systems and components to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role combines technical expertise with hands-on leadership, mentoring, and customer focus. The Hydraulic Fitter drives safe, efficient, and innovative practices, supports operational delivery, and develops the next generation of tradespeople through coaching and skills transfer.

The role:

• Lead hydraulic fitting, troubleshooting, and fault-finding across complex systems and equipment.
• Work closely with OEMs and the Engineering Team to review, interpret, and apply technical specifications, ensuring system integrity, compliance, and warranty alignment.
• Drive right-first-time repair and assembly standards, reducing downtime and improving reliability.
• Support management team in workshop operations, ensuring schedules & commitments are met.
• Oversee allocation of hydraulic fitting, providing guidance to ensure efficiency & adherence to OEM specifications.
• Ensure team adherence to Safe Work Instructions (SWIs), critical risk controls and systems of work.
• Perform in-process inspections, quality checks, and acceptance testing of hydraulic systems.
• Identify non-conformances, support root-cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement through innovation in methods, tooling, and processes.
• Mentor & coach fitters / apprentices, developing skills in hydraulic systems and safe work practices.
• Work closely with customers, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and solutions.
• Step into broader Quality Management responsibilities during periods of leave / absence, maintaining continuity.

What we're looking for:

• Trade Certificate in Fitting, or equivalent
• Certificates in Hydraulics (desirable)
• Minimum 5 years' experience in hydraulic fitting, maintenance, and system assembly.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring apprentices and working effectively in small teams.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hydraulic faults across mobile and fixed plant.
• Competency in interpreting hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical standards
• High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, safety-first attitude with a strong focus on quality.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Be a team player with a positive can-do attitude
