Design Manager - Commercial Construction

The Role

They are now looking for a Design Manager to join our design team and work on a range of commercial projects with a strong focus on hospitality and education

You will work in the preconstruction team and co-ordinate all documentation both internally and from our external consultants.

It is a great opportunity to bring out your inner perfectionist and deliver accurate and integrated drawings. You will also bring out the "frustrated builder" with ongoing involvement in the delivery process.

Duties will include;

Plan and program the design process effectively to ensure all stakeholders act in a timely manner.

Ensure that all design undertakings are in line with contractual, legislative and company requirements.

Review specifications and contract documentation for Design and Construct Contracts and general trade scopes.

Identify, coordinate and drive consultants to complete detailed design and documentation within specified timeframes.

Challenge consultants to come up with effective design solutions and find efficiencies in design.

Identify and recommend cost effective construction strategies and methodologies, incorporating them into the design.

Ensure compliance and contractual obligations are met throughout the process and within design.

Manage client relationships with integrity and fairness, influencing the outcomes you need to ensure effective design.

The Requirements

A Qualification in Architecture / Design / Construction

Outstanding BCA knowledge

A strong portfolio of commercial projects

A strong work history

Previous experience working on hospitality and education projects is desirable.

This is a unique role that will ensure the successful person will have strong involvement across the entire design and construction process. You will work with a highly professional business and be at the cutting edge of innovation and successful project delivery.
