The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join Family Life as a Team Leader working within The Orange Door in Bentleigh (Bunurong Land) as well as travel to other sites as required. The Orange Door Partnership aims to safely address the needs of all Victorians who experience or use Family Violence.

The Orange Door is a Partnership program that performs integrated intake and assessment
services, providing a pathway to Integrated Family Services, Specialist Women’s Family
Violence Services and Men’s Behaviour Change programs. The Orange Door provides
services to families who need support in relation to child wellbeing and seeks to improve
service capacity by integrating service delivery. The Orange Door has a strong commitment to developing opportunities for timely, appropriate and where necessary, intensive interventions to prevent the escalation of risk factors and issues regarding vulnerable children and their families.

The Team Leader provides operational management within the Orange Door which includes managing workloads across the team and providing oversight and guidance to team members. The Team Leader will be required to work collaboratively with 10 multidisciplinary, inter Agency teams.

Key Responsibility Areas

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership of an integrated team of practitioners from partner agencies within
Orange Door, managing workflow in line with Family Safety Victoria requirements, as
well as home agency leadership of Family Life’s Orange Door Child Wellbeing Team.

Contribute to the development of a streamlined service response for women, children
and families affected by Family Violence, broader vulnerability and risk.

Work with perpetrators of Family Violence to hold them in view and engage them so
that they take responsibility for changing their behaviour and choose to end their use
of violence.

Encourage, model and create cultures that promote respectful relationships, both
inside and outside of the Orange Door / Support and Safety Hub.

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a consultative, collaborative, coordinated
manner and participate in staff meetings, team meetings and staff development to build and sustain strong and enduring partnerships.

Coordinate and lead family violence focused direct supervision, leadership and
professional development for team members.

Comply with agency, program and legislative requirements in relation to information
sharing, case recording and data entry requirements.

Work closely with the local Family Violence services including Victoria Police, family
services agencies, the Aboriginal Liaison Worker, Senior Child Protection Practitioner,
Community Based and other service providers to provide creative, flexible intake
service responses for women, men, children and families with complex issues and who may be difficult to engage.

Work with partner agencies across justice, health and social services to build capacity
through providing secondary consultation, expert advice and guidance, provision of
learning, development, mentoring, supervision and opportunities for reflective practice

The Community Connector Practitioner will be required to work flexibly, with hours that are aligned with the needs of the client, which will include outside normal business hours and occasional weekend work. Additionally, whilst primarily based from Family Life’s Sandringham, Hampton East and Frankston locations, this role will involve working across partner agencies to deliver support to families engaged in the response.
