About the role
This role sits within the Communications and Brand team and plays a key part in delivering strategic communications that protect and enhance the City’s reputation. The position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to promote programs, projects and events through clear, engaging and timely communication.
You will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of integrated communications and marketing plans. This includes providing tailored advice and solutions that meet business needs and producing high-quality content across a range of channels including publications, websites, social media, speeches and public relations campaigns.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic communications advice that aligns with the City’s goals and priorities
- Develop and implement communications plans that engage diverse audiences
- Manage team workflow and support the delivery of communications projects
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure communications are delivered on time and to a high standard
- Monitor and evaluate communications activities to inform future planning
- Proactive and reactive media management to protect and enhance the City’s reputation
- Balance competing priorities while managing multiple communications projects
About You

You have a strategic mindset and a creative approach to problem-solving. You can turn complex information into clear, engaging messages tailored to different audiences. You are confident managing competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following capabilities in your resume and cover letter:
- A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a communications role, with the ability to develop and deliver effective promotional campaigns
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skill
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- A sound understanding of brand stewardship and how to apply it in a local government context
