Kick-start your career with MSS as a full-time Trainee Administration Officer in our Taree administration team. This 12-month traineeship is a great chance to gain hands-on experience, earn while you learn, and complete a Certificate III in Business Administration with dedicated study time each week.
The Trainee Administration Officer provides support to the administration team in Taree, as well as occasionally in Port Macquarie, through reception coverage and a variety of administrative tasks. You'll assist with high-volume incoming calls, data entry, mail handling, and general office duties, while learning and developing new skills in a supportive environment.
The traineeship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in administration and customer service while completing a Certificate III in Business Administration. The position requires a positive and flexible attitude, accurate attention to detail, and a willingness to assist both internal and external clients in a professional manner.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
Welcoming clients, visitors and callers warmly and professionally
Answering a high volume of incoming calls and directing them to the right team or taking messages
Providing administrative support including data entry, scanning, filing, emails and mail
Assisting with receipting, payments, and preparing deposits
Maintaining reception and shared areas to a high standard
Supporting the Administration team with general office duties as needed
Selection Criteria
Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
No previous experience is required – full training and support will be provided
Ability and commitment to completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Business Administration while working
Current NSW provisional or full driver’s licence
Use of a reliable car with current NSW registration and third-party property damage insurance
Willing to travel between MSS sites (including Port Macquarie office) as required
Current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check or willing to get one
Skills and experience
Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Comfortable using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
Willingness to adapt and assist across different areas of the organisation
Sufficient time management skills and self-discipline to keep up with the study schedule
