Financial Accountant
38 hours per week | Temporary contract until January 2026
$47–51 per hour + super | South East Melbourne (Local Council)

This role offers hybrid work arrangements, with start and finish times negotiable. Please note the position is located approximately 50km east of Pakenham and 80km east of Springvale, and is not fully remote.

Our client, a progressive local council in Melbourne’s south-east, is seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to support their Finance team on a temporary basis until January 2026. The role
We are looking for a Financial Accountant to provide accurate and timely financial support, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Processing journals relating to bank transactions for approval and posting
• Investigating and resolving unpresented and dishonoured cheques/payments, and reviewing daily void transactions
• Assisting with monthly grants account reconciliations and accurate allocation of receipts
• Preparing monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations within required timeframes
• Generating reports from TechnologyOne and Property & Rating to support reconciliations
• Maintaining a central register of account reconciliations

About you
To be successful, you will bring:

• Experience in a similar role within the Healthcare, Education, Aged Care or Government sectors
• Strong working knowledge of TechnologyOne and CIA
• A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
• CPA/CA qualified or working towards
