· Base salary of between $85,235 and $116,780 per annum

The Indian Ocean Territories Administration (IOTA) is currently seeking a motivated, professional and suitably qualified person to join our team as an Electrician/Electrical Installation Inspector within the Indian Ocean Territories Power Service (IOTPS) based on Christmas Island.
The department is the network operator for the Indian Ocean Territories (IOTs) and is responsible for the generation and distribution of a safe, reliable and efficient electricity supply to residential, commercial and industrial consumers on Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
The key responsibilities of the Electrician/Electrical Installation Inspector are to operate and maintain high voltage and low voltage electricity assets within the Christmas Island Power Station and within the electrical network and to act as an Electrical Installation Inspector inspecting consumer electrical installations on both Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.
Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working as an electrician on an electricity supply network, within an operating power station or in an industrial or commercial workplace and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of LV electrical installations, the application of the Wiring Rules and the WA Electrical Requirements along with having demonstrated experience in electrical maintenance and repair.
Applicants with qualifications and practical experience with HV switching and excellent stakeholder management skills will be well regarded. Experience living and working in a remote cross cultural setting and/or interest in training/upskilling apprentices and colleagues will also be advantageous.
To be considered, applicants must successfully undertake a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, hold a current ‘C’ class or higher driver’s licence and possess a Western Australian (WA) Unrestricted Electrical Worker’s Licence (or have the ability to obtain this prior to commencement). The successful candidate must also obtain within 3 months of commencement, designation as an Inspector (Electricity) and be subject to a health assessment.
