About the role:
We are looking for two friendly and reliable people to undertake the position of General Hand Horticulture to work on a permanent full-time basis and perform a diverse range of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of the City of Swan’s parks, reserves and streetscapes.
As a General Hand Horticulture, you will assist in the maintenance and care of public spaces, gardens and parks. This role involves a variety of tasks including planting, pruning, mulching, weeding and the general upkeep of landscaped areas. This position is ideal for someone who has a passion for nature, working outside and hands-on work, while contributing to the cleanliness and sustainability of the local environment.
Please note: to be successful in this role you will be required to have an LR Licence. Please ensure you put in your application whether you have an LR Licence.
The City of Swan is committed to accommodating flexibility within the workplace, where possible. Although this position is advertised as full-time, submissions from applicants that prefer part-time hours are invited and will be considered in this recruitment process. Part-time positions would be offered on full-day arrangement on a reduced roster of 1-4 days per week as mutually agreed.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Complete all work in a safe and efficient manner with regard to your safety, the public’s safety and the safety of your colleagues
- Customer service delivery to the residents and visitors to the City of Swan
- Follow standard operating procedures and guidelines when carrying out tasks related to the maintenance of the City of Swan assets, such as parks and reserves
- Active and constructive participation in toolbox meetings, safety workshops and continuous improvement
- Utilisation of various tools and equipment to undertake the requirements of the position

The successful candidate will have the following:
- Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety legislation and safe practices
- Knowledge of horticultural practices
- ‘LR’ Class Motor Vehicle Licence (manual)
- Safety Awareness Training Certificate (White Card)
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate
- Ability to work within a team and autonomously
- Ability to pass a medical examination

The salary for this position will be from $73,545.02 - $74,499.18 per annum (includes loading), depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
