Sportsfield groundsperson role available with local government council

Our client is a local government council committed to providing safe, well-maintained public spaces that support active lifestyles and community sport. With a strong focus on urban presentation and recreational infrastructure, the council is seeking a reliable and hardworking groundsperson to join their sportsfield crew on a full-time casual basis.

Your new role

As a groundsperson in the sportsfield crew, you'll be responsible for maintaining the quality and presentation of sportsfields across the Queanbeyan region. Your duties will include:

• Mowing and whipper snipping turf areas
  
• Line marking for sporting events and field boundaries
  
• Litter collection and general tidying of sportsfields
  
• Operating blowers to clear debris from playing surfaces and surrounding areas
  
• Spraying chemicals in accordance with safety procedures
  
• Supporting the team in seasonal field preparation and minor grounds repairs
  

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• A valid White Card and Chemical Handling Certificate (essential)
  
• Ability to pass regular drug and alcohol testing
  
• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping or council operations (highly regarded)
  
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude
  
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Competitive hourly rate of $37.50 p/h
  
• Full-time hours with early starts and early finishes
  
• Monday to Thursday: 6:30am - 3:30pm, Friday: 6:30am - 3:15pm
