About the role
The Wyong Leagues Group is seeking an experienced junior rugby league coach to fill the Academy Coach position, based at the Wyong Rugby League club in Kanwal. Responsible to the Head of Rugby League, the primary purpose of this role is to run the Wyong Roos Junior Academy. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality coaching and training programs to our aspiring young athletes over the 40 Wyong Roos Junior teams, and to oversee the Junior Academy, with the aim of developing our young Junior Roos players to graduate from our senior ranks.
This is a casual role, however, for the right candidate, this could potentially lead to a permanent part time position. Standard working hours are between 4.00pm and 7.00 pm 3-4 days per week, with some Saturday's and Sundays required depending on the Football calendar. Start and end times could be flexible. Must be available through the Rugby League and Academy seasons. Long periods of annual leave must align with the Academy's calendar.
Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver the Wyong Roos Academy and development programs for our junior rugby league teams
Aligning the structure of our junior rugby league operation with its strategic purpose to build our junior side and foster development into seniors
Create and implement a structured curriculum program for different age groups and skill levels with strong focus on fundamentals and skill development
Attend and oversee junior training sessions
Attend team grading and lead player selection, providing feedback and guidance to help players improve their technical, tactical, and physical abilities according to their level
Assist with the appointment of coaches & trainers
Run school holiday clinics for junior Wyong Roos players
Assist the football department with general work and administrative duties
Monitoring player and team progress and performance, and adjusting training plans accordingly
What we're looking for
Accreditation in sports coaching or similar field
Level 2 rugby league coaching qualification or higher
First Aid Certification
Working with Children Check
Experience in Rugby League coaching and training practices
Experience in writing, analysing and implementing coaching programs with a development focus
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate training sessions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with players, parents, and the wider coaching team
Passion for Rugby League and a genuine desire to contribute to the success of the Wyong Roos Academy
Must be willing to undergo a criminal check if successful, paid for by the Wyong Leagues Group.
