- Job Title: Communications and Engagement Officer – Major Road Infrastructure Projects
- Location: Parramatta Square (4PSQ) – Flexible Hybrid (Tuesdays & Wednesdays in office)
- Contract: Until 19th of December (likely extension due to project scale)
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Communications Officer to support a portfolio of large-scale transport and infrastructure projects in Sydney’s west. With a program budget of over $200 million, this role offers the opportunity to deliver high-impact communication and engagement activities that directly shape community outcomes. You will be a passionate communicator who thrives in a construction and transport project environment. You’re equally comfortable collaborating in a team or working independently to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Projects
- Homebush Bay Roundabout – one of the country’s most challenging intersections, now set for a major upgrade through a joint State and Federal initiative. This project will involve extensive community engagement, REF (Review of Environmental Factors) preparation, and public consultation ahead of construction commencing in late 2027.
- Additional road and infrastructure upgrades, including Hill Road (Olympic Park), Pennant Hills Road widening, and Epping Bridge widening.
Key deliverables of the role
- Lead the communications and engagement elements of Review of Environmental Factors (REF) documentation.
- Prepare collateral, communication plans, exhibitions, and pop-up sessions to support REF public display.
- Support government and ministerial briefing requirements.
- Manage stakeholder and community engagement, clearly communicating project impacts during construction and delivery.
- Translate complex environmental and technical information into clear, accessible messaging.
- Work collaboratively within a supportive team of nine, while contributing to a wider infrastructure delivery group of over 90.
To be successful, you’ll bring:
- 5+ years’ experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or public affairs.
- Strong background in infrastructure, transport, or construction projects.
- Experience working on REF documentation or environmental planning approvals.
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and government engagement.
- A collaborative, energetic approach with the confidence to work autonomously when required.
