ABOUT THE JOB
In the role of Trainee Information Technology Officer, you will be supported to complete a Certificate IV in Information Technology while developing technical knowledge, practical skills, and real-world experience. Working closely with our IT Support team, you will assist Engineers in responding to requests from internal customers and contribute to the smooth delivery of technology services across Council. Training and mentoring will be provided on the job, as well as through online and campus-based study with a Registered Training Organisation.
In this great opportunity, we will support you to:
Learn how to efficiently support users through service tickets, phone calls, and in-person assistance
Organise onboarding and offboarding IT equipment and training for new and existing employees
Create user accounts and access permissions for internal customers
Consistently maintain up-to-date and accurate records of our IT hardware and software
Contribute meaningfully through the process of creation, review, and maintenance of IT documentations, guides, and procedures
Communicate with the relevant stakeholders and ensure a high level of customer service
Learn how to actively engage in training sessions, team meetings, and knowledge-sharing activities, as well as taking minutes when required
The position is located at Wallsend Administration Building and will work 35 hours per week.

WHAT WE OFFER
Receive a wage whilst studying towards a qualification starting from $731.78 per week plus 12 per cent superannuation
Payment of all course fees
Paid time to study and attend compulsory classes
Yearly pay reviews and increases based on performance
35-hour working week with nine-day fortnight
Four weeks paid annual leave
Be mentored and work closely with a Team of qualified professionals in the Information Technology Department, a supportive, empowering, innovative and collaborative work environment

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for people who:
Have a minimum of Year 12 High School Certificate or equivalent, with satisfactory English and Mathematics results
Have sound communication, interpersonal and computer skills including oral and written communication, problem-solving, and ability to use Microsoft Office software
Are keen to develop and grow in the Information Technology profession
Are committed to completing the training course requirements online over two years
Enjoy working in a dynamic team environment in an efficient and cooperative manner
Have a good attention to detail and ‘can do’ attitude when assigned with a range of duties within your competencies
Hold a minimum of Provisional Class C drivers license or above
