What you will do

Nestled within the Strategy and Engagement Portfolio, the Data and Insights team plays a key role in supporting the VCEA’s strategic leadership.

The Manager, Data and Insights will provide strategic leadership and manage VCEA’s work in collecting, extracting and analysing data and related research, creating valuable insights for VCEA.

They will also play a critical role in VCEA’s data governance practices and capabilities, and VCEA’s data lake.

What you’ll bring

Expertise to shape VCEA’s data and analytics strategy, ensuring insights align with organisational goals and sector priorities.

Strong leadership skills, with experience guiding and developing a team of data and research professionals in a supportive and growth-focused environment.

A collaborative approach to building strong relationships with partners such as VCAA, MACS and other education stakeholders, underpinned by an understanding of data privacy regulations and governance practices.

The capacity to oversee robust data governance frameworks and promote data literacy across the organisation, driving continuous improvement and innovation in reporting and analysis.

Confidence in presenting complex data clearly to diverse audiences, including executive leaders and boards.

A proactive and detail-oriented mindset, with a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum 7 years demonstratable experience in a similar strategy, business intelligence or data analytics role.

Advanced technical capability across Microsoft Office, Power BI, SQL and statistical tools such as Python/R.

Demonstrable experience managing large and complex data sets, with high attention to detail and commitment to data quality and integrity.

Prior experience managing teams, including managing workloads, providing coaching and quality assurances and building a positive work culture.

Tertiary qualifications in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Econometrics or a related field.
