About the Role
The Environmental Operations branch is responsible for the preservation, management and enhancement of council’s diverse range of environmental and recreational assets and in partnership with our community, the rich biodiversity of the region’s landscapes. The branch plays an active role within council, liaising with other units, as well as with the community to maintain and deliver high quality environmental outcomes.

In this role, you’ll be exposed to the delivery and development of operational based conservation programs. You will:
Administer and report on contractor operations to ensure compliance with legislation and quality of work being carried out.
Negotiate positive business outcomes through both verbal and written communications with contractors and internal stakeholders in relation to the Blue Heart estate.
Investigate and act on customer requests in accordance with Council’s Customer Charter.
Undertake inspections of Council’s Blue Heart estate to identify and record safety and management issues.
About you
You want to chip in and help, relishing the variety and complexity of our projects and the challenges they provide.
As the Blue Heart Project Officer, you will have experience working alongside heavy machinery with sound knowledge of civil works processes.
You will have demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to solve problems often requiring tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
As a requirement of this role, you will have substantial horticulture or natural area management experience (tertiary qualifications in a related field would be well regarded).
Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
Appointment to this position is subject to the satisfactory completion of a Criminal History Check.
