The role

Maki Roll is seeking an experienced and skilled Sushi Chef to join our team at our restaurant located in Docklands, Victoria. As an Experienced Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and sashimi dishes, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, and contributing to the overall success of our establishment. This is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and present a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes to our customers

Ensure all food preparation and handling processes adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations

Assist in menu development and contribute ideas for new and innovative sushi creations

Maintain a clean and organised workstation, ensuring all equipment and tools are well-maintained

Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for our customers

Participate in staff training and development initiatives to continuously improve your skills

What we're looking for

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sushi Chef in a high-quality restaurant or sushi bar

Extensive knowledge of traditional sushi-making techniques and Japanese cuisine

Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation

Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Passion for creating innovative and flavourful sushi dishes

A team-oriented attitude and the ability to work well with other kitchen staff

Excellent communication and customer service skills
