Your part in The Wesley Hospital team

The Kitchen Hand position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the main kitchen through food preparation, dishwashing and support other basic food service functions as required that comply with the hospital’s food safety program. This position performs a wide range of tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment to maintain adequate levels of clean equipment, utensils and crockery in order to provide our customers with a high-quality hospitality experience. Please note full availability is essential in these roles. This position is required to work across a roster spanning Monday to Sunday (inclusive), between the hours of 5:30am and 9:30pm, on a 7-day rotating roster.

What makes a difference for us?

Previous Kitchen Hand experience in a food service health or hospitality team environment

Demonstrated understanding and competencies in manual handling training, chemical use, hand hygiene and food safety

A professional attitude with excellent personal presentation, communication and customer service skills.

Excellent time management skills

Be proficient in all aspects of food safety.

Ability to read, measure accurately and perform basic math skills

Availability to work AM and PM shifts within the Food Services operation (between the hours of 5.30am - 9.30pm on a 7-day rotating roster).

Willingness to obtain required vaccinations in line with hospitals infection control requirements

These roles require a degree of physical fitness as you will be working on your feet all day. This may include lifting kitchen equipment and/or pushing heavy trolleys throughout the kitchen and hospital environment.
