- Base Salary HEO 5 (38 hours), $97,446 p.a. - $109,104 p.a. + 17% superannuation + loadings for after hours and weekend shifts applied
The University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital is starting on its new future with university management and commencing a program of redevelopment of the hospital to become a flagship veterinary teaching hospital.
As part of the School of Veterinary Science which is ranked #1 in the Southern Hemisphere,
the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney (UVTHS) provides a clinical learning experience for veterinary students with staff engaged in professional training programs through provision of veterinary services to the public.
We are currently seeking a Veterinary Nurse Unit Manager to work with, learn from and support Academics and Clinicians and be part of inspiring and training the next generation of veterinarians. It's an opportunity for you to learn and enhance your skills and experience in a unique teaching and research environment of a Veterinary Teaching hospital.

In the position you will
- play a lead role in supporting our nursing function by setting the standard required for clinical teaching and professional nursing assistance with clinical cases
- provide leadership and supervision for nurses across all services in the hospital, including, diagnostic imaging, primary care, pharmacy, surgery, medicine, dermatology and emergency & critical care
- create an engaging learning experience for DVM students on their clinical rotation by both considering approaches that could best assist students and setting direction for nursing staff as they provide these insights
- approach patient treatment and care with compassion and empathy
- be offered an opportunity to assist with our several community outreach programs, an amazing chance to give back to the community.
About you

- a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent
- at least 1-year experience in a veterinary hospital is required
- demonstrated experience in the leadership, supervision, training, mentoring and performance management of staff
- vibrant and enthusiastic, with a strong sense of teamwork
- kind and compassionate towards people and pets alike
- a strong communicator who can provide excellent customer service
