We are currently seeking a Team Leader to join our Settlement and Youth Services in our Glenorchy office.
About Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania
The Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania (MRC Tas) provides access to valued services and promotes the needs of multicultural communities. The MRC’s strategic focus is supported by an understanding of client and community needs, fostered through ongoing engagement.
The Settlement and Youth Services team provides services to support members of culturally and linguistically divers (CALD) communities, including information and referral, employment and industry projects including support for skilled migrants, settlement case support, driving support, and community development activities. The Multicultural Youth Tasmania (MYT) program provides targeted services and projects to support young people aged up to 25 years from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to reach their full potential and thrive as active citizens of the Tasmanian community.
About the role
The Team Leader is responsible for coordinating the operational delivery of Settlement and Youth programs in Hobart, providing case management supervision, project oversight, and direct service delivery as needed, while collaborating closely with the Launceston-based team. This role involves supporting and guiding staff to ensure they receive adequate supervision, contributing to project development, monitoring, and evaluation. Working in a dynamic environment, the Team Leader will collaborate with the Manager – Settlement and Youth Services, meet contractual obligations, and engage effectively with clients from refugee and migrant backgrounds, as well as with other service providers.
The successful candidate will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or related health or social science discipline.
Demonstrated experience delivering high level case management support and project implementation.
Development and delivery of client focused activities and services across a variety of audiences.
Understanding of issues facing people from CALD, refugee and humanitarian backgrounds, and their families, including an understanding of the impact of trauma and torture.
Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with external stakeholders, including promoting the specific needs of people from CALD, refugee and humanitarian backgrounds and advocating for them.
High level interpersonal and communications skills including the ability to motivate, lead and supervise teams.
High level written communication skills with the ability to produce quality written reports, presentations and a range of other documentation as required by the role.
A current unrestricted Driver’s Licence and capacity to travel intrastate as required.
Experience working with people from a CALD background. (Desirable)
