About the Role:
Step into a brand-new role and help shape the future of digital education at Curtin! As the Learning User Experience Designer, you’ll partner with the Manager, Short Form Learning to design innovative, inclusive, and engaging digital learning experiences that push boundaries and embrace emerging technologies, including generative AI.
This is your chance to think creatively, challenge the norm, and lead change in how we design and deliver digital short form learning. By blending universal design principles, user experience, and disruptive technologies, you’ll help create a seamless, accessible, and future-ready learning environment for every student.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Apply UX principles to create intuitive, accessible, and engaging learning experiences that drive positive learner outcomes.
- Lead the design and delivery of advanced digital courses, using effective project management to ensure high-quality, on-time results.
- Oversee learning design quality and providing guidance and quality assurance for sub-contractors and casual staff engaged by the unit.
- Collaborate with academic staff and team members to assess needs, define clear learning objectives, design aligned assessment strategies, and develop engaging, digitally rich materials such as interactive resources, videos, and podcasts.
We are looking for (selection criteria):
- Innovative learning design skills – Expertise in creating engaging digital learning experiences using emerging tools, technologies, and creative problem-solving.
- Data analysis skills – Ability to interpret educational data to guide decisions and measure the impact of learning solutions.
- Adaptability – Capacity to quickly adjust to evolving technologies, pedagogical methods, and institutional requirements.
- Digital fluency – Proficiency with a wide range of digital platforms and tools, including production, collaboration, and interactive learning technologies.
- Stakeholder collaboration – Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with academic staff, professional teams, and students.
- Continuous learning mindset – Commitment to staying at the forefront of trends, tools, and approaches in digital education.
- User-centred design expertise – Skilled in applying UX principles to create intuitive, accessible, and effective learning experiences.
- AI literacy – Awareness of how artificial intelligence, including generative AI, can enhance digital education and learning outcomes
Desirable:
- Three or more years of experience in learning experience design, instructional design, or related field.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
