About the Opportunity
OVAHS is seeking a passionate Cancer Support Health Promotion Officer to join our dedicated team in Kununurra, WA. This is a fixed-term role until 30 June 2027.
In this impactful role, you will support community-based education and engagement activities to increase awareness and prevention through cancer screening. Working collaboratively across community groups, environmental health teams, and healthcare professionals, you will help co-design and implement culturally safe initiatives to enhance awareness and prevention of cancer.

Due to the nature of the Cancer Support Health Promotion Officer, you must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander as per Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).

About You
You are a motivated and community-minded person - your strengths lie in your ability to build relationships, engage communities, and deliver culturally safe and relevant health promotion strategies.
You will also demonstrate:
Knowledge and understanding of cancer-related health issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander people.
Demonstrated experience in health promotion, community engagement, or public health.
Ability to design and deliver culturally safe, engaging health promotion initiatives.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including group facilitation and presentations.
Ability to work effectively with community members, Elders, health professionals, and external
stakeholders.

Specific benefits include:
Base Wage: $80,000 - $84,590 (dependent on Qualifications and experience) per annum pro rata + Super
5 weeks annual leave per year pa pro rata
Additional paid leave over the end of year closure period, as per leave policy
Annual flight allowance on 12 months of continued service
Accommodation allowance
Sociable hours (Mon-Fri office hours)
