Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and open-minded Speech Pathologist to join our team in the Geelong region. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in empowering individuals with disabilities by providing personalised, high-quality support throughout their NDIS journey.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, reliable, and genuinely passionate about working with people with disabilities. Our focus is on collaborating with our clients at every step of their NDIS journey. We are committed to providing freedom of choice and ensuring that our clients' voices are heard.
Role Details:
Type: Full Time / Part Time / Contractor (twice weekly after hours/ school hours availability with late start i.e. 11am to 7pm)
Location: Geelong and surrounds
Job Role Includes (but is not limited to):
Clinical Service Delivery
Conduct comprehensive speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing assessments using standardised and informal tools.
Develop individualised therapy plans that are goal-focused, measurable, and aligned with participants’ NDIS plans.
Provide intervention and therapy across a variety of settings, including:
Participants’ homes
Schools and early learning centres
Community environments
LDS clinics
Telehealth
Support participants who require augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), including the implementation and training of low-tech and high-tech communication systems.
Collaborate with families, carers, and educators to support therapy outcomes and build capacity within participants’ natural environments.
Monitor and evaluate participants’ progress, adjusting therapy strategies as required.
NDIS Reporting, Compliance, and Documentation
Prepare professional, high-quality reports including assessments, progress notes, therapy plans, and NDIS review recommendations.
Ensure all documentation is completed in line with NDIS Practice Standards, LDS policies, and confidentiality obligations.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in LDS’s client management system.
Assist families during NDIS planning and review meetings, providing expert advice and supporting goal-setting.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Work closely with LDS’s allied health team, support coordinators, and behaviour practitioners to ensure holistic participant support.
Participate in regular case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision.
Liaise with external stakeholders including:
GPs and paediatricians
Schools and kindergartens
Community groups and local services
Equipment suppliers and AAC specialists
Family and Carer Engagement
Provide practical training and resources to families and carers to support therapy outcomes in natural environments.
Empower families to take an active role in therapy planning and decision-making.
Offer culturally sensitive and inclusive services, respecting diversity within the LDS participant base.
Professional Development and Innovation
Maintain currency of professional knowledge through ongoing continuing professional development (CPD), as required by Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
Attend regular internal training, peer supervision, and external workshops.
Contribute to LDS’s innovation by researching emerging technologies, therapy frameworks, and evidence-based practices.
Mentor junior clinicians or students as appropriate.
Applicant Criteria:
Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology.
Practicing Membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
Demonstrated clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with communication and/or swallowing needs.
Experience supporting participants with complex needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disability, and developmental delays.
Knowledge of AAC systems and willingness to implement high- and low-tech solutions.
Understanding of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with participants, families, and stakeholders.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Current Working With Children Check (WWCC), NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, and driver’s license.
