About the role
As a Technical Officer in Anatomical Pathology, you will play a key role in supporting the preparation and processing of histological specimens. Your work will involve embedding, sectioning, special staining, while also contributing to the upkeep and maintenance of essential laboratory equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple laboratory areas, including the Main Laboratory, Cut-Up Laboratory, and Immunocytochemistry Laboratory, broadening your skills and experience in a dynamic environment.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will assist with specimen cut-up and processing, frozen section preparation, immunohistochemical staining, and photography, as well as support quality assurance and accreditation requirements. You will also contribute to laboratory operations through routine maintenance, stock management, data entry, and staff training. By applying your technical expertise and attention to detail, you will play a vital part in ensuring the laboratory delivers accurate, timely, and high-quality services to support patient diagnosis and care.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Technical Officer who brings strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to laboratory operations. You will thrive in a dynamic environment, contributing to high-quality anatomical pathology services while supporting the training and development of colleagues.
Diploma, Advanced Diploma or relevant degree in medical laboratory science or pathology.
Experience in histopathology, including processing, sectioning, and staining of tissue.
Strong technical skills in immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, or in-situ hybridisation.
Excellent communication, organisational skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
