About the role
FP Chassis Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced MIG Welder/Fabricator to join our team in Campbellfield. This full-time position is crucial in supporting our ongoing fabrication and production efforts. As a key member, you will utilise your expert MIG welding and fabrication skills to contribute to the high-quality manufacturing of our products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Examining detailed drawings and specifications to determine job, material and equipment requirements for chassis & spare parts

-Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal parts and components for chassis

-Cutting, rolling, shaping, bending, moulding, spinning, heating or hammering metal products to fabricate spare parts for chassis

-Assembling spare parts for the chassis by lining up and joining them by welding, bolting or riveting

-Recognising, setting up, and operating hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as mig-welding machines, grinders and drills

-Clamping, holding, tack-welding, grinding or bolting component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

-Preparing all material surfaces on chassis and all spare parts to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.

-Welding chassis and spare parts in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

-Examining chassis and spare parts for defects and measuring with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.

-Checking grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments on chassis

-Chipping or grinding off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment on chassis and spare parts

-Positioning and securing chassis using cranes

-Repairing chassis and spare parts by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools.

Education/Experience:

Certificate IV in Engineering-Fabrication and at least one year relevant work experience as a Metal Fabricator-Welder or at least three years relevant work experience as a Metal Fabricator-Welder.
