We are searching for a Family Services Practitioner with a passion for supporting young families to join our team based in our Shepparton office.
The Role:
This role works within Family Services Programs, which provide support to young parents aged 12 to 25 years in case management and a variety of group programs. All programs in Family Services focus on health, wellbeing, and safety of the child/ren. Holistic support is given to address any issues that impact family functioning and strengthen the family unit.
Integrated family Services (IFS) is funded by DFFH. The programs are delivered via the provision of specialised early parenting support with goals to strengthen the relationship between the parent/s and their child/ren and to assist parents to meet the health, development, safety and wellbeing needs of their infants and young children. The program provides individual case management, including home-based interventions and supports and connection with youth specific and generic community programs/services.
Key Selection Criteria:
A relevant tertiary qualification in youth, children’s services, welfare, social work, or related field (Minimum Diploma level)
Demonstrated skills and understanding of family functioning, parent/child relationships, parenting skill development, and household management. Demonstrated skills in casework practice, assessment and case-planning
A working knowledge of Best Interests Framework & Case Practice Framework, as well as an understanding of relevant theoretical perspectives including family dynamics, life stages and child and adolescent development.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, liaise, consult and negotiate with a wide range of staff, support services, and service users.
A working knowledge regarding issues surrounding adolescent pregnancy and parenting, and a capacity to assist young parents in the development of parenting skills.
Additionally, you must have a:
