ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a Traffic/ Transport Engineer to step into a pivotal role on a 12-month fixed term contract with possibility for extension. Working within a collaborative team of engineers and planners, you’ll provide expert advice on Development Applications, lead investigations into traffic-related concerns, and play an integral role in shaping safe, efficient, and sustainable transport networks across the municipality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigate traffic and transport issues including road safety concerns, congestion points, and community-raised requests, providing practical and sustainable solutions.
- Prepare technical reports and cost estimates to support project planning, capital works programs, and decision-making by internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with internal departments and external agencies such as RMS, TfNSW, and residents to coordinate responses to traffic, transport, and parking matters.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of transport initiatives including Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) schemes, road safety audits, and active transport strategies.
- Represent Council at Traffic Committee meetings, presenting technical advice, supporting policy development, and engaging with NSW Police and other key stakeholders.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
- Strong experience in traffic and transport within Local Government or consultancy.
- Solid understanding of NSW Road Rules, Australian Standards, and Austroads guidelines.
- Skilled in technical report writing and stakeholder communication.
- Experience with traffic software (e.g. SIDRA, AutoCAD) is highly desirable.
