The Role:

At Karakan, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to feel safe, supported, and empowered to create their own future. Our YouthKan Transitional Specialised Accommodation Service provides a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented model of care that integrates psychosocial and mental health supports with safe housing, tailored wellbeing plans, and opportunities for growth.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Youth Wellbeing and Support Team Leader to guide our dedicated team of Youth Wellbeing Workers. This role is integral to the program's success, ensuring that young people receive consistent, safe, and empowering support that leads to meaningful and sustainable outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

Leading, mentoring, and supporting a skilled team to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed youth services in line with YouthKan Mental Health and Psychosocial Wellbeing Practice Framework

Working closely with our integrated Occupational Therapist and youth leadership team to design and help implement tailored assessments, interventions, and wellbeing plans and ensure a holistic approach to care

Overseeing day-to-day service delivery, ensuring safe housing environments and positive experiences for young people.

Driving continuous improvement through reflective practice, staff development, and service innovation.

Building strong relationships with families, Child Safety, and community stakeholders to ensure young people are connected to opportunities, networks, and resources that support their recovery and independence.

Providing leadership in risk management, incident response, and crisis support.

About you:

A proven people leader with experience in mental health, psychosocial wellbeing services, supported accommodation services or youth services.

Minimum 2-3 years of team leadership or supervisory experience in mental health, psychosocial wellbeing services, supported accommodation services or youth services

Skilled in recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice, with a passion for empowering young people.

Confident in leading and managing teams, supporting professional development, and driving service quality and performance.

Strong communicator and collaborator, able to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Resilient, flexible, and committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of young people.

Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)

National Police Check clearance

Working with Children Check
