Tully CANEGROWERS is seeking a motivated Technical Officer to join our team. This full-time role is based in Tully, North Queensland. You will play a crucial part in supporting the local sugar industry to develop and adopt new technologies and systems.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

What you'll be doing

Manage a wide range of securely funded local projects to help optimise the quality of sugar cane presented to the Tully Sugar Mill.

Help to consolidate the widespread (>90%) adoption of "Smartcane" Best Managment Practice farming systems used by our grower members, by integrating modern GIS and data collection platforms.

Oversee and audit the payment system for sugar cane delivered to the Tully Mill.

Collect and analyse data to help inform decision making and drive continuous improvement.

What we're looking for

A STEM related tertiary qualification, not necessarily in agriculture.

Demonstrated experience in a technical or advisory role, preferably including successful project management.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with a wide range of people including farmers, harvesting contractors and industrial managers.

Proven data analysis capability.

The potential to advance and be a key part of the succession planning for the leadership of Tully CANEGROWERS.
