As a Tree Assessment Technical Officer, you’ll be part of a progressive team of dedicated Arborists responsible for delivering high-quality arboricultural services across the Redlands Coast. Your work will include tree assessment and management across Council’s parks, conservation areas, roadsides, and streetscapes. This role also provides the opportunity to apply your specialised technical knowledge through report writing, maintenance scheduling, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local legislative requirements, as well as Council’s Service Level Agreements.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality tree assessments, reports, and maintenance scheduling across Council sites.
Providing in-field supervision, mentoring, and training to staff, while supporting performance development and fostering a collaborative team culture.
Promoting safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible practices, and addressing any non-compliance issues proactively.
Assisting with budget planning and review, ensuring services are delivered effectively and within Council’s procurement requirements.
Contributing to a customer-focused, team-based culture that achieves positive outcomes for the community.
Skills and experience:
Strong people management skills, with experience in staff leadership, team building, mentoring, and improving workplace productivity.
Extensive experience in carrying out expert tree assessments with a high level of professionalism and technical accuracy.
A tertiary qualification in Arboriculture (AQF Certificate III or higher), with a sound understanding of the Australian Standard for Amenity Tree Pruning and contemporary tree risk management practices (TRAQ certification highly regarded).
Well-developed technical knowledge of arboriculture and horticulture, supported by practical field experience.
Proficiency in administration and computer-based tasks, including technical report writing and the use of tree management databases.
Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Eligibility:
You'll hold a minimum of AQF Certificate III of Arboriculture or equivalent
You'll have the ability to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including remote response and site-related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis
You'll have a Current Class C Driver's Licence
