Our Client & The Role

Join a government body where your litigation expertise and ability to manage and lead a team will be valued, challenged and rewarded.

Our client is looking for a lawyer with civil litigation or estate litigation experience (or both) with 5+ years PAE to manage a small team (of around 3-4 lawyers) in Brisbane. In this role, you will be providing our client with legal advice, conducting difficult and complex litigation (particularly complex and contentious probate, succession and elder/disability matters) as well as other financial and property-related matters. Very collegiate group with a true work/life balanced approach.

You will find yourself appearing before all Courts and Tribunals with jurisdiction in Queensland on a weekly basis as this is a very litigation heavy role.

This is an exciting opportunity to further develop your managerial skills and work on interesting and varied matters. To allow you to focus more on mentoring and progressing claims run by the junior lawyers in your team, there is a lower billable hours target.

You

The ideal candidate will be someone who:

• Has 5+ years PAE;
• Can manage and mentor Lawyers and paralegals (and has proven managerial experience);
• Can deliver efficient and high-quality professional legal advice and services;
• Can represent our client in a timely way in relation to their responsibilities; and
• Has demonstrated experience in litigation, or is able to swiftly acquire the skills to advise on and represent our client, in any of the following areas:
• Equity and Trusts
• Succession law
• Elder/Disability law
• Property law.
