About the role
The organisation is looking for a capable and hands on finance manager that can assist to drive the strategic finance related goals of the organisation while working at a transactional level with the finance team to ensure core operational finance obligations are met.
Your duties will include:
Financial Operations and Oversight
Oversee the Finance Team (3 FTE) in the day-to-day financial operations including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations.
Review and approve payroll and AP runs, BAS/IAS lodgements, and other statutory filings.
Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register and ensure appropriate capitalisation of assets.
Lead and support the finance team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Grant and Program Financial Management
Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate grant allocations and tracking of expenses.
Prepare and present monthly P&L reports including board reporting for each funding program, including commentary and variance analysis.
Prepare acquittals and financial reports for funding providers, ensuring compliance with grant conditions.
Reporting and Compliance
Lead the month-end close process including balance sheet reconciliations, P&L analysis, and preparation of accruals, prepayments, and other manual journals.
Prepare and present monthly financial reports to management and the board, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Reserves and Funding Program Performance Reports.
Ensure compliance with AASB standards, ACNC reporting requirements, and other regulatory obligations.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with program managers and COO.
Manage cash flow and prepare forecasts to track grant receipts and payment schedules.
Monitor financial performance and provide strategic insights to support decision-making.
Audit and Governance
Manage Carers ACT relationships with external auditors and manage audit processes.
Review year-end General Purpose Financial Statements prepared by external auditors.
Maintain strong financial internal controls and risk management. Review and implement financial policies and procedures to strengthen governance.
Prepare Board finance and risk committee reports and papers
About you:
Essential
5+ years of team leadership experience in a similar position.
Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating a Finance team.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
CPA or CA (certification) or relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance.
ACT WWVP card with NDIS workers clearance or willingness to obtain, Police check.
Desirable
Demonstrated experience in the community and not-for-profit sector in a medium sized organisation.
