St John of God Geelong Hospital St John of God Hospital Geelong is a 253 bed hospital and is recognised as the leading provider of private health care in the Barwon and South-Western region. The hospital provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services.
Your position
We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified, Registered Nurses to join our highly skilled team in our Emergence Department. This role requires a post-graduate qualification in critical care and recent ED experience. We can offer varying shift times to accommodate work/life balance.
You will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and the co-ordination and supervision of care delivered by junior staff and students within Critical Care.
The Position
- Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and Care Paths.
- Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions.
- Maintains and promotes harmonious interpersonal relationships and effective teamwork, between staff, patient, relative, doctors and ancillary staff.
- Assists and collaborates with team members in the assessment of allocated patients.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation.
- Communicates effectively with all members of care team and reports changes in patients' status to appropriate personnel.
- Initiates discharge planning on patients' admission to ensure appropriate use of all resources and the patient/family are well prepared for discharge.
- Documents any incidents and reports these to NUM/ANUM.
You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and you will have a post-graduate qualification in critical care and recent clinical experience within ED with resus and triage highly desirable.
To succeed you will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to identify and solve problems. In addition, you will demonstrate commitment to quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

- Salary $79,535 to $100,984 (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation
