About the Role:
Under the direction of the Team Leader Field Services, either alone, in small gangs or leading small work gangs, the Field Services Officer undertakes the following:
Development and maintenance of parks, gardens, open spaces and streetscapes
Tree management and pruning services
Customer response services
Provision of a safe working environment for Council staff and the general public
Key Responsibilities
Horticulture/Field Services:
Irrigation and cutting of lawns and ovals. Maintenance and development of reserves, ovals, parks, nature strips, shrubs and control of pest plants.
Repair and installation of irrigation systems with Council’s reserves, ovals, parks, nature strips and garden beds.
Repair and installation of traffic control signs, street furniture and playground equipment.
Collection and disposal of litter, and street cleaning.
Ensure that safe working conditions and safety practices are observed on all works under his/her control, to protect both employees and the public.
Proper care and maintenance of plant and equipment under his/her control.
Responsible for Customer Service Record Management including prioritising, actioning, updating and closing of assigned tasks within agreed response times.
Arboriculture Services:
Pruning and planting of street, park and public trees in accordance with the Australia Standards AS 4373: 2007 Amenity Tree Pruning and best arboriculture practices
Provide information and suggestions to Team Leader Field Services
Assist, where possible, in management of plant and machinery to ensure timely replacement and suitability for tasks.
Ensure all plant is operated, maintained and serviced to minimise wear and downtime and ensure operator safety.
Responsible for Customer Service Record Management including prioritising, actioning, updating and closing of assigned tasks within agreed response times.
Rapid Response/General:
Assist in the achievement of agreed outcomes consistent with department business plans and budgets.
Undertake works as directly associated with reactive customer service requests as it relates to Field Services and Arboriculture Services.
Assist in adequately managing the official records created and received according to relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Removal of illegal waste
General litter collection
Plant and equipment maintenance
Callout duties where applicable
Responsible for Customer Service Record Management including prioritising, actioning, updating and closing of assigned tasks within agreed response times.
Undertake any other duties associated with the position as directed by Team Leader Field Services.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
Police Clearance (ability to obtain).
Current Driver’s Licence & Hold a Class 2 (MR) licence
Desirable:
Work Zone Traffic Management (WZTM) Accreditation
Accredited in operation of Elevated Work Platform and Chainsaw
Certificate III in Arboriculture or Certificate III in Horticulture
Accreditation to operate a front-end loader, backhoe, etc.
