We are a fast-growing manufacturing company in Thornton. We design and manufacture height safety equipment for distribution globally.

We are looking for a graduate/near graduate mechanical engineer to join our team. We are seeking a motivated individual with hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software who is familiar with technical drawings and specifications and wants to develop a long-term career in an exciting industry. The role will require the individual to coordinate with customers to understand the design requirements and prepare proposal drawings.

The successful applicant responsibilities will include:

• Design of roof access systems for customers.
• Liaising with engineers and other drafters to ensure the accuracy of design drawings.
• Preparation of documents using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.).
• Interpreting architectural drawings.
• Review customer plans/concepts and advise on the best compliant access systems to suit.
• Communicate confidentially with customers with technical queries.
• To attend face-to-face meetings with customers to understand their requirements.
• Training/consulting new customers/distributors in setting out of plans/layouts.
• Understand the related industry code of practices and standards.
• Work with our team to ensure a workflow is maintained that is orderly, efficient, and be professional when responding to clients.

The suitable applicant will have:

• Relevant Technical Drawing/Drafting experience.
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
• Excellent problem-solving skills (design related).
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Preferred:

• Mechanical or fabrication knowledge.
• Ability to read building architectural and structural drawings.
• Experience using Bluebeam software.

Must have Australian working rights.
