The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Plant Inspector (Leading Hand) to take charge of our inspection team on-site. You’ll be responsible for supervising and mentoring a small group day-to-day, while keeping our fleet in top condition and ready for hire.

This is a practical leadership role for someone with supervisor experience who enjoys working with equipment, takes pride in setting high standards, and can guide and support others to do their best work.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out and oversee plant and equipment inspections safely and efficiently

Supervise, mentor, and support a small team of plant inspectors onsite each day

Review fleet availability and assign inspection tasks to the team

Conduct clearance inspections, log findings, and produce clear photo records

Run up equipment and attachments to validate operation and condition

Apply serviceability status tags (Ready for Rent / Out of Service)

Carry out minor repairs, fluid top-ups, and greasing points

Mentor team members on safety, inspection standards, and communication

Liaise with the Workshop and Yard Managers on equipment queries

Lead monthly team toolbox meetings and uphold yard organisation standards

What We’re Looking For

Proven supervisor experience leading a small team in a hands-on environment

A strong commitment to safety and quality standards

Forklift licence (essential)

Confidence training plant and equipment

Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills

Great communication skills, able to guide and coach others

Strong attention to detail and consistency

Comfortable using ERP systems and electronic tablets for inspections

A proactive and flexible approach to workloads and priorities
